Pittsburgh Teen Launches Inclusive Program for Refugee and Immigrant Students

(upbeat music) – My name is Peyton Klein. I’m from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, and I’m the founder of the
Global Minds Initiative, which is a youth led organization dedicated to creating global friendships. We have students from over
50 different countries, and each student has a
different perspective about human rights, cultural identity, sustainable development,
international relations. And all of our activities
promote and stimulate conversations that tackle stereotypes and cultivate community. Right now in the United States we are at a very pivotal moment. We’re seeing cultural
intolerance and discrimination in every aspect of not only
our country but our schools. As youth, it’s our job to take the reigns and make them feel welcoming again. Passion is contagious and the
more people we have involved the bigger our change can be. Youth are so energetic and passionate about the issues that they care about, and are in the perfect position
to confront today’s issues.
