RIGHT NOW SHELTERS AROUND THE BIRMINGHAM AREA ARE PREPARING TO HELP THE HOMELESS DURING COLDER TEMPERATURES. AND IT’S A CHALLENGE TO HELP EVERYONE. CBS 42 NEWS REPORTER CONAN GASQUE JOINS US LIVE IN BIRMINGHAM WITH THE DETAILS. CONAN? GUYS I’M HERE AT THE SALVATION ARMY WHERE THE NEXT COUPLE MONTHS ARE THE BUSIEST TIME OF YEAR ALREADY JUST BECAUSE OF ALL THE THING THEY DO FOR CHRISTMAS. AND THE COLD WEATHER ONLY ADDS TO THAT. THE ORGANIZATION HAS AN EMERGENCY SHELTER. IT HOLDS ABOUT 48 PEOPLE. BUT THEY’LL HAVE TO WELCOME ABOUT TWICE THAT MANY WHEN THE TEMPERATURES DROP. THEY ALLOW FOR OVERFLOW ONCE IT GETS BELOW 34 DEGREES. AND THAT MEANS THEY’LL BRING IN COTS frozen. That would be the worst feeling that you could possibly have.
