Wickiup Shelter Solo Overnighter

Wickiup Shelter Solo Overnighter

hey guys thanks for tuning in like my wickiup shelter it’s already almost dark and it’s only like six o’clock but we’re in mid-october and yeah it’s already really dark gotta get a fire started and well some water have some supper and then I want to add some boughs from my bed I brought a sleeping bag but no sleeping pad want to grab some water just in case I get problems with the fire water to put it out I brought this huge huge part [Music] [Applause] have a little bit of grass to start my getting a couple [Applause] okay so it’s pretty much dark now how I got my water for my fire and I just hurried up and gathered a bunch of firewood just before gets too dark and I don’t want to be going away far from the shelter once it gets too dark so I’m going to cut it up start my fire and boil some water I don’t want to go too crazy on the fire in this shelter wake you up the walls don’t want to burn the walls down or anything so I got to be careful starting it too would like to do a fire pit with rocks and stuff but I didn’t have time it’s already I got here pretty much in the dark yes but if the shelter is already built I brought a sleeping bag so I don’t need to worry about having enough firewood to keep warm I’ll do a gear video tomorrow when it’s bright out on all the gears that I I brought [Applause] they’ll have to cut some boughs for the the bed doing that here shortly and I managed to manage to get the the bear bag up it’s not the greatest setup but man in the dark it sure is complicated all right so this before just some fresh green bones boy add this to my pad thai trying tight pad back packers pantry move the server move peanuts try not to spread some everywhere hmm peanut butter yeah I’m gonna not use that white just attract animals more than anything else yes I might as well eat get some good calories peanuts are actually the food that contains the most calories per gram or per weight don’t quote me on it but according to my research so good good food to carry around grab my glove so this thing’s freaking hot so it says to do you want quarter cups 500 nails no clue how much water I had in here probably not enough at that boil some more my hats gonna be on this bike or Obi all right good enough I can throw my shemagh pillow my too weather forecast for tonight could be come down to 0-1 just about and right now it’s like three or four sleeping bag on the bush bed it’s good to practice some skills in the dark but it’s hard to film like you guys probably can’t really trying to do my best with the headlamp and the other flashlight that I brought Oh looks like my pad thai is ready add out a bit more water and kept mixing it looks pretty good it’s got lots of noodles peanuts and sauce and stuff try not to put some everywhere in the shelter yep that’s ready just eating my ice supper outside the shelter I don’t want to attract bears or animals or anything I wanna spill food all over the place shelters been here for almost a year now still standing pretty good nice and solid I’ve been wanting to do this overnighter for a while it’s fun to finally do it mm-hmm all right so I want to show you guys a really good camping desert one of my buddies from college showed me this when I was in college and man this is good you guys got to try this for sure you name three ingredients a banana some chocolate any type of chocolate and some marshmallows and if you’re at home you can do the exact same thing and put it in the oven on a knoll like 350 and you don’t need to put the aluminum paper and what will happen is the chocolate at all melt inside the banana see I just cut them in half lengthwise and the marshmallows will hold blend in and melt and I’ll become all like golden colored and man that’s good getting smoked out here all right so chill chocolate pieces inside the banana it’s good one the bananas a little bit more I don’t know it depends how you like your bananas I guess and then you put some marshmallows as well now the marshmallows will expand so if you’re doing this in the oven you got to put something underneath is it all fall out yeah that’s about it and then pull this on grill like I said about 350 375 should be good [Applause] yeah look at the chocolate yeah shout out to scramble though scrambled oh I tried your your Apple bacon fried apples with cinnamon for breakfast this morning and it was really good not quite ready but everything is falling apart so if you do it in the oven the marshmallows don’t stick on the aluminum paper that’s a little bit better but still you get the general idea that’s good well you shelters real effective like it’s windy out like and I’m nice and toasty inside the shelter would I soon as I go out to cut water something like that I feel that little breeze and I feel like I need to put another layer of clothes on but in the shelter I’m really comfy and this is a lot of sugar for tonight setting up the bareback pretty much set up for the night now got a little pile of firewood here to burn slowly and got my sleeping bag all set up in the bush bed show you guys how the chat tale how the cattail is looking still looking pretty solid nothing moved tripod 9:30 already geez all right guys it’s fine 35 I’m getting ready to hop in the sleeping bag and close an aisle see you guys in the morning I got fish amok and a coat for a pillow should be good excited to try this bush bed out taking some of these trying to break these branches off before I go to bed don’t want to poke an eyeball while I’m sleeping or if I get up try to forget I’m in the shell three hey guys it’s 2:00 in the morning and it’s pretty chilly and the fire went out what fire go out it’s left from 11 or I guess 10 no I’m gonna man up get out twig bundle and get the fire go back to bed five-thirty I just put a key lock in the fire and the coals going again I’ll go back to sleep good morning everyone 7:30 got up got some water and boil a bit of water for me like that this morning yeah it was chilly there’s a bit of frost on the leaves it’s still too dark to film without the headlight got a little bit more wood [Applause] Oh better instant coffee I’m all done breakfast you pack up the rest of the video be mostly packing up my gear and I’ll show you guys everything I brought next time I’d like to try a cattail bed instead of the bows you can see better now with the flashlight the bows top down didn’t have thick enough okay so first things first I got my big pot for putting out the fire I didn’t use it yet I got a headlamp also got my other my other bigger flashlight got a reflective vests an extra one got leather gloves got these small merino wool gloves as well my shemagh another pair of gloves extra pair of socks a small cute I had this one on right now this one’s wool this one’s only like that little fleece or when you’re more active and I got my 20 gauge pump-action brought it just in case my saw my little saw back a little soft I used it quite a bit together what I brought my Hudson Bay wetterling’s Hudson Bay X but I didn’t even use it I felt more more comfortable using my saw that night in the dark got my camera case with some extra batteries God five extra batteries well five batteries total I got one liter Nalgene bottle that I all used up my two pots my Mars Bush pot my titanium pot my little grill my sleeping bag my big green backpack this is the carry more saber 6,100 everything will fit in here except a big big huge water pot so I’ll put out the fire with and my tripod and my a gun won’t fit in there I’ll carry em in my 1. good thing I have previewed believe me I think I am older to you, but I have not had a chance to spend overnight under stars like you just did. if you don't mind, can I ask you this. I think I don't spend overnight, but presumably I can say this how about end of body keep'em warm over night? extra gloves or socks might work? oh!~~ your dessert quick and sublimate to female I will defy your recipe when I make a good time.

  2. Thank You for sharing this video with all of us. I sure enjoyed it. your little desert with the banana and chocolate looked real good to me also.

  3. Hi,
I always appreciated your outdoor – survival- nature video. You do a sincere and honest job plus i learn a lot watching you ( i'm a novice over 50 ). I saw some videos about the " long fire"( not sure about the name) which last all night but look pretty technic and not sure if it's working in real life. In your case, would have been possible to do one or your shelter was not adequate for that kind of fire ? I don't know if my question is clear……
Continue your good job………. but please be careful with the sound ( high and low not stable).
    Salutations.

  4. Looks like a great knight out! Awesome shelter man looks like my kind of vacation spot. Did you do any hunting while you were out? Dude that banana thing looked awesome. I have another overnighter planned on the 28th. Hopefully the plans stick. Have a good weekend

  5. Thanks Nomad: I'm impressed with the way you handled setting up after dark. I also learned that even if you have a fire going; we should have a spare set of starting materials on stand bye. Thanks for a great video. Thanks Brian 77

  6. Great video bro I'm glad you found me, and gave me the opportunity to follow you back where you came from👍 keep up the great work I have the Bell turned on I'll be back!

  7. Avec le sapinage et les quenouilles bien sèches, faut pas être nerveux pour entretenir un feu. Sois prudent, quand même, je veux continuer de voir tes videos1

  8. Sounds like a fox to me. Female black bears make a similar sound when calling their cubs. Ferro rods are cool but lighters are better in the middle of the night.! Between the marshmellow fingers and the boughs your sleeping bag must have been a sticky mess. Delicous dessert idea. Going to try that. Thanks for the video. It is as authentic as possible unless we were there with you.

  10. fun trip.. lot of work to camp like this it looks like, but pretty cool sleeping in a shelter you built… boy that is a weird sound… could be barking or some type of bird… im clueless..

  11. So jealous of your weather. We still have mid 80s here, but it is gonna get down to lows in the mid 50s this week for a day or two…I see the Mors bush pot in action….

  12. Superb video!! No obnoxious music… no mindless chatter… just pure experience with a little commentary. Outstanding! Great gear segment as well! I'm with ya!

  13. Hey bro i like all that setup and stuff you made but next time you should try a long fire before going to bed
    Have a good one.

  14. Definitely going to try that Banana trick

I am just starting filming my own Bush videos. Please take a look at my channel. Thanks!! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YhcHEi7xicM&t=1076s

  15. Thank you for reminding me about the banana, chocolate and marshmallows. I had forgotten about them and how good they are!!!!!!!!!

  16. It will be, for sure, better if you built a Fire Reflector as the heat will radiate back to your Hut and keep you warm while you sleep…. Try it next time !

  17. For your Hut, there are so many gaps for the wind to sleek in, you better put some more dry grass of moses to seal the gaps to shield the wind away from entering your hut….a piece of plastic sheet or a tarp would be a good suggestion for your next camping ( if you will return to this site again ) !

  18. It seem you didn't have enough preparation for your fire ! Next time, try to cut some bigger wood logs to keep the fire burning through the long cold winter night which will keep your warm and away from unexpected animals !

  19. Thanks for sharing the knowledge.
I'm enjoying your videos, now that I found them.
